    NetApp has posted latest earnings that are disappointing. Although the company posted bottom line numbers that are above estimates, revenue disappointed. The better-than-expected EPS was achieved through higher profit margins via cost cutting. As margin expansion cannot continue for a long time, the fact that revenue declined was worrisome.

    Revenue came in below expectations because the company's OEM business dropped by 30%. The OEM business accounts for the majority of its revenue compared to branded revenue. Other vendors like IBM are dropping NetApp's hardware solutions. Going forward, the company expects its branded revenues to grow at mid-single-digit percentages over the next few quarters, while the OEM products are likely to continue decline at similar rates. As a result, overall product sales could be annually down by 4-5% in fiscal 2015.
